Calling All Superheroes!!!

We celebrated Isaac and Jack's birthdays back to back, and threw one big Superhero party for the two of them. I figured with moving, all the traveling and being big and pregnant, one party was all I could handle. It was a huge success, though, and really not stressful at all. Just a few things about each of the birthday boys: Jack is starting to read, loves to color and paint, still has boundless energy and is constantly surprising us with how much he knows and can do. At the doctor he was 45.5 in tall (93%) and weighed 50 pounds (93%). He can be the best big brother and is looking forward to having another little guy to help me take care of. Isaac is the most docile of my crew of boys, but the kid is STRONG-WILLED! He is so mellow until something makes him made and then the little temper flares. It is funny, if I get on to him or make him mad, he says "I like daddy" over and over. And vice versa if Jeff makes him mad. He also has the ability to melt your heart, too. We are hoping this part of him shows up more and more and the strong-willed part less and less. :) Isaac is our little helper....we are certain that acts of service will be one of his top love languages as he relishes helping us in any way. At his dr. appointment, he was 35.5 inches tall (75%) and 28 pounds (50%) - It is fun having a slighter one to cuddle and hold.

Oooh....a football. Isaac has a minor obsession with three things right now: Balloons, Nerf guns and BALLS (any kind will do). He will play with these things for hours on end.

New treads. He now has something other than just Crocs to wear.

Had to get him this old school toy. It's one of those play record players....I had one when I was a little girl and loved it. All three of the boys think this thing is so cool.

The PARTY begins! Jack really wanted a superhero party, so that is what we had. Luckily, the weather cooperated beautifully for us the morning of the party. I was a little worried since we ended up with 63 people in attendance and didn't know where we would put them all if it rained like the forecast predicted. We had lots of Superhero activities like a Spiderman bouncehouse and slide, a Superhero facepainter (who was incredible, by the way....look below for pics), a Make Your Own Superhero Mask table, and digging for Superheroes and Villians (squinkies) in the sandbox among other things. We also did something that we will defintely be doing in the future again - instead of presents at the party we took a donation to be given to Salvation Army for kiddos who don't get presents. We ended up with a little under $150 to donate!

Our 5 year-old Birthday boy chose to be decorated with my two favorite animals: a spider and a snake. (Though later he went back and talked our facepainter into cleaning his face and giving him a dragon instead...spoiled little b'day boy.)

Our big backyard....we love it! There are trees!!! (We didn't have any in Texas....though I am sure it won't be fun once all the leaves start falling.)

Our little 2 year-old Birthday boy was a little timid with so many people around. He sort of kept to himself a lot and opted not to get his face painted.

The facepainter was popular (she is one of the Thunder's official facepainters and had so many fun things she painted on the kids).

See the trampoline down there by the bouncy house? Jeff and my dad worked in the rain and drizzle for 3 1/2 hours the day before putting that thing together so we would have it done before the party. It was worth it!

We had enough helium to do all the balloons except for Jack's 5! We decided that if you turned Isaac's 2 upside-down, it resembled a 5. :)

It was so cute: the night that we did just our immediate family birthday celebration with Jack (he picks where/what we eat, then we have circle time at home before presents and each say something special about the birthday person, pray, sing "Happy Birthday" and then do presents) after we sang to him, Jack said, "Hold on. I am going to blow out my birthday candle." Then he went to the light switch and blew up toward the lights and turned them off real quick. Took us totally off-guard, but we thought it was so clever and laughed so hard. He is witty kid!

Aunt Kathy and Brody came for a visit and brought the birthday boys some special gifts, too.
